The Ottawa, Canada Chapter of DAMA International has now been formed !
The DAMA-Ottawa Chapter held its’ inaugural event on November, 9th 2010 with over 60 data management professionals in attendance.
What is DAMA all about?
DAMA International is a world-wide organization of data management professionals that is responsible for the development and communication of knowledge and standards around the management of data. It is most notable for the development and publication of DM-BOK ™ DAMA-Ottawa is a Chapter under DAMA International.
What is the Value Proposition for me as a data management professional?
1) Build support for the cause so decision-makers will support investments in data management programs
– Learning how other organizations have done it
– Learning how to build a business case
– Linking with local organizations
2) Make sure we are doing things right
–Ensure that standard, proven approaches are used eg. Universal Data Models and DM-BOK

–Networking with service providers, academics and practitioners in the data management field
–Education in data management practices through learning events and data management resources
–Certification in data management (CDMP designation)
